Welcome to our very first Hive Community Arts blog post.
Our aim for this blog is to keep you updated with what has been happening and what is coming up at Hive and in our surrounding area. We hope this will develop into an online community for sharing thoughts, stories and ideas and then best thing is you can join in with the conversation, share your artwork or projects.
We are in full preparation for the new WEA term starting next weekend. We have many courses on offer over the next year and some still have spaces. You can find full details of all of our courses by clicking here.
For those of you that have not been in to visit for a while, our reception and coffee area have had a major facelift. You can now find screens with up to date calendar information and Hive news, a new boiler – providing instant hot water for those well needed cups of tea and coffee, a new sink in the Birklands Room and lots more space. Following on from that we have been getting rid of lots of bits and pieces some of which is now available of www.freecycle.org
We’ve ended this week with a fantastic video workshop with Jenny Eells from BBC Radio Leeds which we will be sharing with you at a later date. Follow Jenny on twitter @jennyyorksnews.
One of our participants in the workshop told me;
Today I learned to use a selfie stick and film in the garden. I interviewed a woman about her art walk. I also talked about my sewing and how much Hive has helped me to become more confident in realising my dream of learning to sew.
This weekend we have our very first Introduction to Silversmithing (Jewellery) course running so we will be sharing some photos and stories from that.
